Welcome to the "California Innovation Corridor" (The Corridor) network. It is an online,
collaborative zone initiated by a $15M/3-Year Department of Labor grant to
the State of California and the California Space Authority titled, "Workforce Innovation
in Regional Economic Development" (WIRED). As proposed, the Corridor includes: the proposal developer and grant
manager; the California
Space Authority; the State of California's Labor
and Workforce Development Agency and Employment Development Department;
and over 60 industry, academic, workforce, and economic development participants
extending across 13 counties. This Corridor team is conducting a joint effort to drive entrepreneurship,
global manufacturing competitiveness, and 21st century workforce development.
A primary goal of the Corridor team is to significantly leverage its initial funding and resources during the
grant period so that at the end of 3 years (2009), it will be a strong,
sustainable state-wide endeavor. The three primary Corridor goals to accomplish a
California "Workforce Transformation" are Innovation Support,
Industrial Rejuvenation, and
Talent Development. It is clear that
innovation will be the single most important factor
in determining America's competitive success through the 21st century. We are determined that
California, as it often has, and with the help of InnovateCalifornia.net, will
lead this critical effort.
